OSLC COUNCIL MEETING April 16, 2008 

 

Present:  Neil Biersdorf,  Sharon Foss, Melanie Fleming,  Bev Wehr,  Dennis Eggemeyer,  Darlene Daniels, Ann Davis, Kate Burroughs. And Lee Sorenson

Church Member Present: Jay Zimmerman

Pastor was on vacation

Absent: Chris McCarrell and Sonja Sanders 

1. Opening Devotions were conducted by Neil Biersdorf.

2. The Minutes of the Council Meetings of March 19th were corrected so that 6.5 read that the policy that only Lay Assistants or Council Members can distribute communion be abolished.   With that correction Melanie Fleming moved that the minutes be approved, Sharon Foss seconded, approved unanimously.   

3. Pastor’s Report- The Tuesday May 6 Listening Team from the Synod was discussed.  This will start at 6:30pm.  Church members can sign up for 15 minute interviews and answer the question,  “From you perspective, what is Happening at Our Savior Lutheran Church”    

5. Old Business  

5.1 The Murder Mystery Dinner and Play was a big success.   Thanks to Chris McCarrell for heading up that major event.   Also to Dennis Eggemeyer for getting tv coverage, and to all the Pirates/Actors and the Galley crew! 

5.2 The Rummage Sale.  May 2 and 3, 8-2 Friday and 8-1 Saturday.  People can start bringing items for sale to the Church and place them in the old Pastor’s office. 

5.3 Sunday School will continue through May 25.  On May 25, there will be a reception for high school graduates.    

5.4 Harvest Nights.  The “sneak preview” for the Congregation is coming May 18 at 6 pm

5.5 June 22, The Guest Minister from Lutheran Social Services will be here. 

5. 6. 50th Anniversary Committee would like addresses of former members.

6 Committee Actions and Reports 

6.1 Worship and Music is going to start providing coffee every Sunday. 

6.2 Outreach and Fellowship will sponsor coffee fellowships on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.   There will be a game night Sunday, June 22 after Harvest.   Food will be collected for the Veteran’s Food Pantry.  Thrivent will sponsor a night at the Chiefs on August 8.  OSLC will need to indicate the number of tickets needed by May 31.   

6.3 Property Committee is looking for volunteers to mow the Church grounds this mowing season.   

6.4 Finance Committee is looking for volunteers to be tellers.  

Melanie Fleming moved and Kate Burroughs seconded approving committee Reports.  It passed unanimously.    

7. New Business.   The Church needs a volunteer to be editor of the Hilltopper.  

8. Upcoming Events:  

8.1 Church Rummage Sale May 2 and 3 

8.2 Listening Visit, May 6, beginning at 6:30 pm 

8.3 Committee meetings are generally May 7 at 7pm 

8.4 Next Council Meeting is May 21st at 7 pm
